Barnett Lodge Master Plan

Barnett Lodge Master Plan: What Will Change?

Proposed capital improvements to the Barnett Lodge will add 7,131 square feet of new space to the building and reconfigure some 2,373 square feet of existing space.

Both the north and south dining rooms will be expanded. The kitchen will be expanded and modernized and a small meeting/dining room will be added for groups who rent out facilities during the year.

The building will have a centrally located entry and welcome center plus two new meeting rooms with exterior glass walls overlooking Lake Griffin. Administrative offices, now crammed into a small cottage, will be relocated to Barnett Lodge. Staff will have easy access to incoming groups, campers and programs, and will have their own conference room for meetings and planning sessions.

A major innovation is the addition of a lakeside terrace overlooking Lake Griffin. It will accommodate outdoor receptions, meetings, group activities, worship and more. The famed “rocking chair porch” will be relocated to the area overlooking the new terrace and the lake. Plans call for smaller porches to be added at the entrance to the existing fellowship hall and adjacent to the two new dining rooms, giving Barnett Lodge many more options for indoor and outdoor activities.
