One of the great strengths of the United Methodist Church is its connectional system. Instead of being one church, we are many. Yet, through our connection, we come together to create ministries that are larger than any single church could support.
Here in Florida, we are working Together! to raise capital funds for ministries that serve the entire Florida Annual Conference, beginning with our Camps and Retreat Ministries, which bring transformational, life-changing experiences to children, youth and adults in four locations in Florida. The first project in this phase of the campaign is the renovation of the historic Barnett Lodge at the Warren W. Willis Camp in Fruitland Park.
Because of the generosity of a major donor family and the Conference Board of Trustees, we have established a $1 million matching gift program that will match, dollar-for-dollar, every gift given to the campaign, up to a total of $2 million in gifts. That means your gift will be doubled and will have even greater impact. One hundred percent of all campaign contributions go toward campaign objectives. For each gift to the campaign, we will tithe 10% of the gift to a camp scholarship fund to enable children, youth and adults to attend camp at one of our four state-wide camping locations. Campaign costs are being underwritten through the operating budgets of the Conference and Conference Foundation.
Working Together! we can fulfill Christ's call to make disciples for Christ for the transformation of the world.
